The suburb of Rosebery can be found in the state of New South Wales and is located 6 kilometres south of Sydney’s central business district. It has a good mix of houses and businesses, as well as a population of around 8,500.

History

Rosebery takes its name from Archibald Phillip Primrose who visited Australia for two months in the mid-1880s. He was the fifth Earl of Rosebery and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom between 1894 and 1895.

The area used to be home to the Rosebery Racecourse before it became an army camp during World War II. Once the war was over, the site was turned into a training track for the Sydney Turf Club.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

This area of NSW is very quiet and only ten minutes away from the city and beach. It has a small shopping centre on Gardeners Road and many businesses on Botany Road.

Rosebery has lots of parks including Turruwul Park, Crete Reserve and Kimberley Grove. As well as the suburb being home to a few great schools, the Sydney International Film School can be found on Rosebery Avenue.
