Parklea is a suburb in the City of Blacktown, and is 40 kilometres north-west of Sydney’s CBD. The area has a population of around 3,455.

History

The suburb got its name from the subdividers in the early 1900s, but its real claim to fame is the Parklea Markets. The markets were built in 1985 on the site of a drive-in cinema, and is now one of the premier retail locations of Sydney’s west.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Parklea’s major landmarks include the Parklea Markets,and the Blacktown Leisure Centre. The Parklea Markets are a popular location for weekend shopping, with a fresh food market, and pots and plants.

The Blacktown Leisure Centre is also nearby, and has facilities for kids and adults. The Centre includes a creche, indoor lap pool, spa and sauna, stadium, and fitness centre – as well as a fun wave pool for the whole family.
