Located 8km north-east of the Sydney CBD, Mosman is one of Sydney’s richest suburbs. It is home to many of Sydney’s most respected doctors, lawyers, and business people.

History

Mosman gets its name from Archibald and George Mosman. In 1831, the twin brothers moved onto a 4-acre land grant and founded a whaling station in the bay. This area became known as Mosman’s Bay.

In the 1880s and 1890s, art colonies popped up around the harbour. As a result of Sydney’s new “artist camps”, Mosman became known as “Australia’s most painted suburb”. It also became a source of inspiration to painters like John Mather, Tom Roberts, and Julian Ashton.

Mosman has many beaches including Obelisk Beach, Chinamans Beach, and Balmoral Beach. You can also find other attractions like Taronga Zoo and Sydney Harbour National Park.

Located on Military Road, Mosman Shopping Centre has a wide range of boutiques, restaurants, and cafes.
