Minto is a suburb in New South Wales with an estimated population of over 10,000. It’s part of the Macarthur region and located 48 kilometres south-west of Sydney’s central business district.
History
Minto takes its name from a man called Gilbert Elliott-Murray-Kynynmound. He was the Earl of Mint and Viceroy of India. The area was once home to the Tharawal people before British settlers took over the land.
A railway station was built in Minto in 1874 and named Campbelltown after a local building. The choice of name caused some confusion, especially as there is a nearby suburb called Campbelltown. The name of the railway station was changed to Minto.

Minto has lots of great parks and both indoor and outdoor sporting facilities for families to enjoy. There are some shopping malls and restaurants, as well as many takeaway chains in the area.
It also provides good transport with trains and buses.
