Leumeah is a major suburb of the City of Campbelltown. It is part of Greater Western Sydney and has a population of 9,419.

History

The suburb’s name recognises the traditional inhabitants of the land, and settler John Warby who named his farm ‘Leumeah’. It is a phrase from the traditional Tharawal language and means, “here, I rest”.

The area has benefited from a railway station since 1887.

All of Leumeah’s streets are named after famous explorers, pioneer farmers, lakes and dams with significance to the history of New South Wales.

Arts and Entertainment

Modern day Leumeah benefits from a well-established commercial area. There are a wide variety of local shops and restaurants in walking distance from the train station. As such, Leumeah is popular with young families. The ABS once referred to Leumeah as a microcosm of Australian society, featuring a way of life that represents the “average Australian”.
