Lane Cove is a suburb in New South Wales and one of the most beautiful waterside locations in Sydney. It’s only 9 kilometres north-west of Sydney’s central business district and has a population of over 9,400.

History

There are different stories behind the naming of Lane Cove. Some people believe that the area is named after Lieutenant Michael Lane who once worked with Captain Cook. Others think that the suburb takes it name from John Lane who was the son of the London Lord Mayor.

Most of the houses were built in the area after World War II when soldiers were given blocks of land. In 2005, Land Cover became the subject of the world’s press when an apartment block collapsed and a pet bird was rescued by a robot.

Lane Cove is a quiet suburb filled with shops, cafes, restaurants and schools. The town also boasts medical and dental services, as well as recreational areas.

While the suburb is close to major shopping centres, it still has it’s own village atmosphere.
