Kenthurst is a small village and suburb about 40 kilometres north-west of Sydney’s city centre. It is home to over 4,800 people and belongs to the Hills District region.

History

The first people to live in the area were the indigenous Darug. Up until the late 1900th century, the settlement was referred to as Little Dural. Thinking that the town needed a more elegant name and considering that many of its settlers came from the English county Kent, the name changed to Kent Forest. However, by 1887 the inhabitants officially chose Kenthurst as the name for their home.

Kenthurst is a semi-rural settlement. It has several schools, a public swimming pool, a playground, a basketball court as well as a large green area – Kenthurst Park. The local shopping village features a supermarket, a post office, a hair salon, and various other shops.
