Hoxton Park is a Sydney suburb. It is 38 kilometres west of Sydney’s CBD. It has a population of over 4,200.

History

The area was once home to the Tharawal people.

Thomas Setrop Amos was granted 800 acres here in June 1818.

Hoxton Park was named in 1887. The land was subdivided by company Phillips and Co. under that name.

Around 1857 a weatherboard homestead ‘Bernera’ was built. It was an early homestead in a vernacular style and is heritage-listed.

Hoxton Park had a small sealed airstrip, Hoxton Park Airport. It was built during World War II. It was to serve as an aircraft dispersal field if Sydney were attacked. It was closed in 2008.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Hoxton Park has many churches. One notable one is the Inspire Church. It has been active for more than 25 years. It has more than 5,000 members. The Bible Baptist Church, established in 1992, is another popular church in the area.

Hoxton Park is home to the Liverpool Catholic Club. It has an ice skating complex nearby.
