Glenorie is a rural suburb in Sydney, 44km northwest of the CBD. In the local government areas of the Hills Shire and Hornsby Shire, it has a population of over 3,400.

History

Glenorie was home to the Darug people who lived all over what is now the Greater Sydney region.

The suburb used to be part of Dural and then was later known as North Dural. As this caused confusion for the post office, local William Black offered two alternatives in 1894: Hazeldene and Glenorie. Glenorie was chosen because it has support from the local progress association. Glenorie takes its name from the name of a popular Scottish town.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Glenorie is mostly a rural suburb although it is close to the major suburbs of Castle Hill and Hornsby which offer all the services and facilities needed.

The suburb is home to two public schools and the local secondary school is Galston High School.
