Based in New South Wales, Enfield is a city in Sydney’s Inner West. It lies 13km south-west of Sydney’s Central Business District and falls under the Burwood Council. According to the 2011 census, Enfield has a population of over 2,600 people. Enfield takes its name from Enfield Town in London.

History

The Wangal people of the Eora tribe are the original inhabitants of the land. In 1810, William Faithful was granted 100 acres of land. In 1812, Liverpool Road was developed through Faithful’s land. By the mid-1840s, Enfield was a small village. In 1853, the town built its first post office.

Enfield is the home of Enfield Public School and St Joseph’s Primary school. The suburb also boasts two churches. These are St Joseph’s Catholic Church and St Thomas’ Anglican Church. Three bus companies service Enfield.
