FAQs

  • What is a level 2 service provider?

This means that we are accredited to install electrical metering and do overhead and underground main connections.

  • What is an RCD?

An RDC monitors the flow of electricity and is designed to immediately switch the electricity off when electricity is detected at a level harmful to a person using electrical equipment.

  • What are the Laws regarding smoke alarms?

To better protect home and families in Australia, the AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules and State Building Codes have a number of stringent electrical standards in place. By Law, every house and rental property in Australia is required to have a Residual Current Device (RCD-safety switch) and a 240V smoke alarm installed by a qualified electrician.

  • Why do I need a circuit breaker?

Circuit breakers and fuses are designed to protect electrical cables and fittings installed in the home from overloading and shorting out circuits. They cut the power when electrical wiring in the home has too much current flowing through it. They are designed to prevent electrical fires.

  • How often does equipment have to be tested and tagged?

On construction sites there is a legal requirement to test equipment and to change their tags every 3 months. This is to ensure that electrical equipment is regularly checked and safe for use. In other hostile environments, where equipment is subjected to conditions, the frequency of testing and tagging is every 12 months provided that the circuit to which it is connected has integral RCD protection. For circuits without integral RCD protection the testing and tagging period is 6 monthly.

  • Why do I need a licensed electrician?

Incorrect wiring done by an unlicensed and uninsured person can void your insurance, so when the inevitable electrical fire happens you'll find yourself with huge repair bills. That’s why only trained and experienced electricians should perform electrical work. Paying for a licensed electrician ultimately saves you time, effort and money, and ensures you and your houses are safe. Quality work lasts and gives you the peace of mind that a professional job has been done.

  • What are the legislative requirements regarding testing and tagging?

If you are an employer or self-employed person, you have a duty of care to ensure that employees and visitors to the workplace are safe from injury and risks to health. You must, therefore, manage any safety risks surrounding electrical hazards, in accordance with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2000 (the Act) and the Regulation.

  • Do you supply the gear I will need or do I have to do it?

You don't have to do anything if you don't want. We can supply all fixings and fixtures you will need, generally at below retail price. And if you know what you want you can take a photo and email us and we will try our best to match the product.

  • What areas do you service?

We service regional NSW- 200km from Dubbo (travel fee applies)
