History

The suburb was likely named for its cliffs which run along the Pacific Ocean coastline. These cliffs resemble those found at Dover, in Kent, England.

Local sports field Rodney Reserve runs along this clifftop. The Royal Australian Air Force used it for coastal defence radar during the Second World War.

Dover Heights was first mentioned in municipal records in 1886. The area was first used for market gardens. It was subdivided in 1913.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Dover Heights is mainly residential and many properties have views of Sydney Harbour. Some properties have both harbour and ocean views.

The suburb has many beautiful parks and sporting grounds. Dudley Page Reserve has views of Sydney Harbour and the city’s skyline.

Dover Heights’ National Rugby League team is the Sydney Roosters. Founded in 1908, it is one of the oldest clubs in the game’s history.
