History

Claymore had an Aboriginal history before European settlers arrived. The area was home to the Tharawal group. British settlers landed in the early 1800s, and built orchards and farms. Claymore underwent major development in the 1970s, with many new residents arriving to occupy the new housing. Many of the residents are from New Zealand and Samoa.

Claymore has a number of local amenities, though it is mostly residential. There is Claymore shopping centre, which has many well known brands and great places to eat. Claymore also has a Catholic Church run Kalon House of Welcome, helping those in need, as well as a WorkVentures Connect Centre. Many of the streets are named after Australian artists.
