Based in New South Wales, Casula is a suburb in Sydney. It lies 35km south-west of Sydney’s Central Business District and falls under the City of Liverpool. According to the 2011 census, Casula’s population is over 14,600.

History

The Dharawal people of the greater Eora nation are the original inhabitants of Casula. In the 19th century, farmers made their way to Casula. Richard Guise was one of these settlers, and he called his farm Casula. The area expanded with marketing gardening, fruit growing, and poultry farms.

During World War I, Casula housed a recruitment and training reserve for the Australian Imperial Forces. This is where Reserve Road gets its name.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Casula is a busy area. The Casula Mall offers retail therapy for shoppers. There are over 40 speciality shops, as well as a Coles and Kmart.

Art enthusiasts love to visit the Casula Powerhouse. Formerly a 1950’s power station, this building is now a vibrant arts centre. It hosts exhibitions from Sydney artists.
