Carlingford is a suburb in the state of New South Wales with a population of over 21,500. It is situated on the north-eastern outskirts of the Greater Sydney Western region 22 kilometres north-west of Sydney’s central business district.

History

In 1788, the Wallumedegal people arrived in the area. It wasn’t until 1883 when Carlingford became the name of the post office in Mobbs Hill. The suburb was known under various names before this time.

After World War II, many buildings could be seen in Carlingford including a school and houses. The first shopping centre opened in 1965.

Carlingford has a golf course, gym and swimming pool, as well as good parks and playgrounds. The Carlingford Court and Carlingford Village areas are home to takeaways, restaurants and medical centres.
