History

The Mulgoa people lived in Cambridge Park until settlers arrived from Europe. They lived in huts made of bark and spoke Darug. They survived off nature, catching kangaroos and emus to eat as well as plants and berries. An outbreak of smallpox severely affected the indigenous population in the 18th century, making it easier for people from Europe to take their land.

The streets in this area are arranged at right angles to each other. This is in contrast to some of the newer suburbs which have a less geometric layout. The streets were mostly developed in the 1950s. The majority of people that live in Cambridge Park are native Australians.
