The suburb of Cambridge Gardens is situated 54km west of Sydney’s central business district. The suburb is located within the City of Penrith local government area. The Mulgoa people lived in the area before the European settlers arrived and the region has a population of over 2,000 people.

History

Cambridge Gardens wasn’t gazetted until 1981 up until when it was a part of the Cambridge Park suburb. After the first fleet arrived in Australia, a smallpox epidemic broke out and huge numbers of native Australians in the area were wiped out. The first settlements were farming communities.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The area has 2 schools, several supermarkets, and some fast food takeaway outlets including Pizza Hut and McDonald’s. The area is also served by a comfortable hotel and some speciality shops. The main A9 road passes through the suburb and this makes for great links to the highway network.
