Based in New South Wales, Buronga is a town. It sits on the Murray River and falls under the Wentworth Shire. Buronga connects to Mildura by the George Chaffey Bridge. According to the 2011 census, it has a population of over 1,100 people.
History
In the 1830s, Captain Charles Sturt discovered the area. After this, European settlers travelled through the area, moving their stock to Adelaide. Buronga formed part of the Tapio run at this time.
It wasn’t until the 1930s that Buronga was officially recognised and named. In 1951, the area got electricity. In 1955, the town installed reticulated water.

These days, Buronga is a beautiful little town. The Buronga Caravan Park is a great place to sit and relax as you look at the river.
The Australian Inland Botanic Gardens are nearby. It is the Southern Hemisphere’s first semi-arid botanic garden.
