Welcome to Brookvale, NSW

Brookvale is a part of the North Beaches region and is located 16km north-east of the Sydney central business district. It is a major industrial area with a relatively small suburban population of around 2,500 people.

History

Brookvale was first developed in 1836 when farmland was granted to William Fredrick Parker. Further development followed as more land was sold to other families. In 1883, Sydney Alexander Malcolm built Brookvale House in the area. The house was sold in 1961 and eventually made way for the building of the Warringah shopping mall.

Much of the land around Brookvale was bought by immigrants following World War II, many of whom were Italian. The area was slowly transformed from farmland into a hotbed of industrial and manufacturing activity.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Brookvale is home to the largest shopping centre in the Northern Beaches area, the Westfield Warringah Mall. It has a cinema, food courts and a number of major retails stores.
