Bligh Park is a suburb in the local government area of the City of Hawkesbury. It is located 58km from the Sydney central business district and has a population of around 6,500 people.

History

Bligh Park is named after William Bligh, a Governor of New South Wales who was deposed by the New South Wales Corp in 1808. Known as the Rum Rebellion, this historic event remains the only successful armed takeover of government in Australian history. The area was named in his honour as people in the suburb were known to be supporters of Bligh.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Bligh Park has a plenty of facilities including a small shopping centre and a primary school which was opened in 1990.

There are also two large sporting ovals which are home to several sporting clubs including the Bligh Park Soccer Club and the Windsor Wolves Junior Rugby League Club.
