Blayney is a small agricultural town in central NSW. It has a population of more than 3,300 and lies about 240 kilometres west of Sydney.

History

Like many other towns in the area there is thought to have been an aboriginal presence here before European settlers arrived.

The town was developed in the 1820s after being surveyed in 1815 by George Evans. A rail line linked the town to Lime Kilns which now have heritage listing and can still be seen by visitors to the area.

Other industrial development spawned by the railway included a butter factory, meat canning factory and abattoir.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Nowadays the town is still a hub of industry. It has a Nestle factory which ships produce around the world, as well as being home to Australia’s largest inland container depot.

Blayney has daily rail links to Sydney and good bus and coach services.
