Bilpin is a small town near Sydney in New South Wales. It falls on the Bells Line of Road. Bilpin is in the City of Hawkesbury local government area, west of Sydney. This Blue Mountains town has a population of 932.

History

Bilpin has strong Aboriginal roots. The name is thought to be either a name of an aborigine guide, or a word for ‘mountain.’ In 1823, a boy called Archibald Bell made the trip from Richmond, through Bilpin, to Mt Tomah. Since then Bilpin is known for being home to a number of well known authors.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Bilpin hosts a number of fun activities to help people connect with nature. There are local groups for crafts, such as quilting. There is a Gardening Club and the Farmer’s Association. Every Saturday there is a farmer’s market, which is starting to attract tourists to the area. A pick-your-own orchard and the world’s largest fruit bowl are the talk of the town.
