One of Sydney’s Northern Beaches, the suburb of Belrose has a population of 8,300 people. It is 19 kilometres outside the city centre and dates back to the early 1900s.

History

The suburb is thought to have got its name from the combination of two plants growing in the area. The Christmas Bell and the Bush Rose were both prolific in the region.

The suburb opened its post office in 1923. Unfortunately, it closed in the 1980s, but nearby Belrose West has its own branch.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Today Belrose is mostly a residential area but it has a business park, two shopping centres, theatre and library.
Many well-known, established retailers have a branch in the town.

Belrose also offers a wide choice of schools and leisure activities.

Paul Hogan, of Crocodile Dundee fame, is a former resident of Belrose.
