History

Bardwell Park is named after a land-owning settler named Thomas Hill Bardwell. His land was near Wolli Creek and was heavily timbered. A railway station was built in 1931, connecting the town to nearby localities. A local school and post office were built in the 1940s.

Much of Bardwell Park is residential, but the area is serviced by a modest shopping centre found near the railway station. Bardwell Park is known for having some of the last bushland to be found in a heavily developed city area, and the only remnant bushland in Sydney. The protected area is easily reached by public transport, and is great for hikes and picnics.
