Balgowlah is a residential suburb in northern Sydney. It’s located 12km north-east of the Sydney central business district and has a population of 7,495.

History

The area’s name comes from the Aboriginal word meaning “north harbour”. This references its location from Port Jackson.

During the 1800’s, it was known as “Little Manly”. Sir Edmund Barton, Australia’s first Prime Minister, lived in the Whitehall building.
