Arcadia is 42km northwest of the Sydney central business district. According to the 2011 census, the population of the area is 1,305 people. Almost 80% of the residents were born in Australia.

History

The Darug people were the original inhabitants of Arcadia. The name Arcadia comes from a region in Greece with the same name. The first post office was the Upper Galston Office, which was renamed Arcadia Post Office in December 1895. It closed in 1974.

The main street in the suburb is Arcadia Road. This road and houses on Roscommon Road were featured in the Australian movie “”Tomorrow, When The War Began””. Landmarks in the area include Arcadia Park and Arcadia Community Hall. Arcadia Public School holds the Arcadia Markets twice a year. It has more than 50 stalls and offers craft goods, fashion, jewellery, fresh produce and more.
