Ambarvale is a suburb in Sydney’s south-west, and resides in the City of Campbelltown. The suburb is 55km south of Sydney’s CBD, and has a population of 7,213.

History

The local region in and around Ambarvale can be traced back 40,000 years, to the Aboriginal Tharawal people. However, European settlement began in 1816, after the establishment of a property by Samuel Larkin. Ambarvale was originally known as Glen Lora, and it was not until 1976 that the new suburb of Ambarvale opened.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Ambarvale’s nearest train station is Macarthur, which is just north of the suburb. Ambarvale has a local supermarket, as well as the popular Ambarvale Tavern, which has a bistro and gambling facilities. The nearby Macarthur Square shopping centre is one of the largest shopping centres in Sydney’s south-west, and is just a short drive away. Ambarvale is also home to two primary schools, and a public high school.
